Oil & Gas

In a rapidly changing world to low carbon economy, It becomes very vital that hydrocarbons are extracted to miminise the impact on the environment and simultaneously meet the rising energy demands for sustainable energy supply. Therefore, It is the responsibility of the engineers and leadership to develop unique and smart solutions to address the challenges posed by the operations.

Brownfield Modifications (Onshore and Offshore)

Brownfield projects in the oil and gas industry are vital for maintaining the relevance and efficiency of aging infrastructure, allowing companies to adapt to new challenges without the need for entirely new constructions. If the modification is required for capacity expansion, technology upgrades, regulatory compliance or anything else. Construction and fabrication (our approved fabricator) led design activities are carried out to meet the TA and site operation team requirements during the development of the design.

We undertake design FIT FOR PURPOSE and modelling activities involving and considering other disciplines requirements. The design is carried out considering the ease of construction, fabrication, transportation and lifting. Due consideration is given to the availability of local materials (to reduce carbon foot print) in the design process. All activities required from start to finish are being undertaken by our experienced team.

Repair Orders (Onshore and Offshore)

These are the directives to fix or replace damaged or degraded equipment, infrastructure, or systems that could compromise safety or operational efficiency. Construction and fabrication led design activities are carried out to meet the TA and Site operation team requirements during the development of the design. We undertake design “FIT FOR PURPOSE” and modelling activities involving and considering other disciplines requirements. The design is carried out considering the ease of construction, fabrication, transportation and lifting. Due consideration is given to the availability of local materials (to reduce carbon footprint) in the design process. Be it spool replacement or pipe support or handrails/gratings or anything as required for integrity and sustainable operation, RAG provides (not limited to) the following services to meet the project requirements.

  • We undertake holistic analysis based on the inspection reports and site surveys to sequence/prioritise the repair areas. CTR is developed for the identified repair works and submitted to client to budget the cost including fabrication, construction and installation.
  • Investigation of existing survey data, inspection reports, drawings and scanned data to identify any complexity and impact on existing system.
  • Quality checks of the fabrication (OUR APPROVED FABRICTORS) and responses to TQ/SQ.
  • All other activities associated with from start to finally installed in place.

Decommissioning (Onshore and Offshore)

Our experienced team of engineers and designers support the safe decommissioning of the assets. Activities include (not limited to): FEASIBLITY studies, structural assessment of the existing Deck and Steel beams, LOLER lifting plans, Lifting design, Approval of Contractor design and documents and Modelling.

Decarbonisation & Emissions Reduction

Flare and Power Decarbonisation are critical components in the broader effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change, particularly within the energy and industrial sectors. Government of UK have directed the operators/duty holders to reduce the carbon emissions of the live platforms by 2030. Emissions due to POWER and FLARE contribution more the 70% of the carbon emission of the platform.

  • Decarbonising of Flare can be achieved by various strategies such Gas Capture and Utilisation, Improving infrastructure, Gas recovery technologies, Government stricter regulations etc.
  • Decarbonization of power at offshore platforms, such as those used for oil and gas extraction, is a crucial step in reducing the carbon footprint of the energy industry. Offshore platforms traditionally rely on gas turbines or diesel generators for power, which contribute significantly to greenhouse gas emissions. Decarbonizing these platforms involves transitioning to cleaner energy sources, improving Energy Efficiency, Electrification, Energy Storage Solutions, CCS, Hybrid Power System, Policy and Collaborations, Waste Heat Recovery etc.

By implementing these strategies, offshore platforms can significantly reduce their carbon footprint, contributing to the broader goal of decarbonizing the energy sector. The transition to cleaner energy sources and more efficient operations will not only help mitigate climate change but also position the industry for a more sustainable future. RAG is working with Process Safety partners (https://www.ors-consulting.com) to identify the possible solutions to Decarbonise.
